Italy is not bigger than Arizona. Despite this fact, there is much to see, and depending on your taste, you want to spend different amounts of time in any place. I have broken my recommendations have to see in the city, highly recommended cities, sites and other points of interest. I also provided for how long I would recommend you stay in town to help plan your time. Finally, there are links to the city that I have pictures. 1.1 To see the city! These cities people will wonder why you lost. A. Florence (2 to 4 days in Florence, perhaps a week to make day trips) The lover of art and grommet dream. You will need to spend at least two days in all major tourist sites, as well as sampling of different foods. The city overflows with its history and even echoes the rebirth. Even a comfortable area for day trips to the hill and the city of Pisa. If not stay in the center. B. Venice (1 to 2 days) completely different from all other Italian cities. Not all cars. This city is a network of islands linked by bridges on foot. Venice is going through a slow and prolonged decline from its day of a maritime power. Facades of the buildings still radiate splendor se. After seeing San Marcos, and explore the lost city. Its a small town and if you can see everything in 2 days. C. Rome (2 days, 3 if you are an art buff). Do you need a day to see the Vatican and the Vatican Museums. Go in the morning, every day but Sunday. The Museum closes at 1 or 2. Spend the rest of the day in St. Peters. Your day can be spent exploring ancient Rome. " The Colosseum, Forum, Spanish Steps, Capitol Hill, the Pantheon and a collection of churches and ruins are all within a few minutes walk away. They can be seen in one day. Spend a third day, if your art is a buff, but is polluted and the city seems to me so do not hesitate Grimy. 1.2 Highly Recommended. These sites you should visit their splendor and beauty. A. Cinque Terre (2 days, maybe more) 5 picturesque town on the Italian Riviera. This can be a vacation from your vacation (to quote Rick Steves). All cities are connected by trails and the local train, and are hidden among the majestic cliffs. Spend at least two days of relaxation. Warning this is a popular tourist destination for Italians, may be crowded during the summer. B. Hill Towns of Tuscany (a day each, how can make day trips from Florence). 1. Siena. A former powerhouse medievale. However, fever and rival city-state caused her death. As a result it was pickled Gothic. Siena is a good example of a Gothic city-state. It 'very beautiful and scenic city of walking. In addition, you can not center. 2. Assisi. Assisi is a quiet and panoramic hill town with a beautiful Basilica. 3rd San Gimigano. The city of 7 towers. (I believe that once were 23) The towers are nobel families squabble among themselves, as in Romeo and Juliet. Nice town, morbid torture gives you an idea of what punishment was like in medieval times. 4. Others: There are many hill towns in Italy, each with its own little charm. If this is what you want, Rick Steve's "USA" or the Michelin guide should give you more information. Both books can be ordered through Amazon.com recommended by my Italian guide book page. C. Costa d'Amalfi (2 to 3 days). South of Naples, this coastline offers impressive cliffs, with beautiful beaches hidden below. All this against overlooking the sea. Plenty of small towns, as well as locations. Un po 'tourist. D. Pompeii. (Daily excursions) This city has been stopped dead in its tracks by a volcanic eruption. A good example of what life was like in the 1st century. The city has been beautifully preserved. E. Lake Como. (2 + days) have never been here, but its very scenic. F. The Dolomites. (2 days?) Has declared itself to be one of the best and strongest emotions unique mountain in Europe. G. Sorrento. (1 or 2 days), a tourist resort on the Amalfi coast, a nice break from Naples. H. Capri. (1 to 2 days) Scenic island off the Amalfi coast. Unfortunately, it is packed with a price multiple locations and tourists. Good 1.3 Other cities to visit. Other good places to visit, but you should not linger. A. Naples. (1 day, spend the night in Sorrento and Salerno) Good museums, interesting city to walk. Even a dangerous city after dark because of crime. B. Milan. (1 day) shopping and fashion center of Italy. Impressive cathedral, plenty of shopping. Good people watching. Does not deserve more than a day if. C. Sicily (1 day) Good draft hub of organized crime. D. Pisa (day trip from Florence) Famous for its leaning tower, it also has a picturesque church (conveniently from the tower). The tower is constantly under the scaffolding. The town is a pleasant distraction, but not more than one afternoon. It may be a side trip to / from Florence. 1.4 Other sites of interest. Sites that are interesting for the history buff or someone who wants to escape the tourists. A Paestum (1 / 2 a day, and be a day trip from Salerno, Pompei and Salerno) Former Greek city trading well preserved, with three Doric temples and other ruins greek. It is considered the best preserved ancient greek site outside of Greece. Two of the temples were in scaffolding when I was there. B. Ercolano. (Daily excursions can be done in a day like Pompeii and Paestum) Another city claimed the eruption of Vesuvius. Not as impressive as Pompeii, but still very well-preserved city. C. Salerno (1 or 2 days as a temporary) of a city on the Amalfi coast. It has a safe, friendly, very useful to the youth hostel and decent sandy beaches. A good area to go on stage in Naples, Pompeii, Patestum, Hurcleanium, as well as the coastal tour or for those who for a period of Brindisi for Greece. D. Verona (stop days between Milan and Venice's famous city of Romeo and Juliet. Entità to have the house of Juliet, but do not really exist. 2.0 What should we bring? A. Money belt. Keep your money put away in a money belt. B. Small camera and film. Film is expensive. You want a camera you can easily hide. C. comfortable walking shoes D. Comfortable clothing, one or two changes only. E. a hat and sunscreen. F. toiletries. G. ATM card with 4 digits. H. Day pack. I Travel 's control. J. A good attitude. 3.0 What we have to be careful. A. Thieves. Thieves target American tourists. Not because American hatred, but because they know that the Americans carry large amounts of money on them. But above all, the objective of caring for the elderly and for many things. B. distractions. Often on the scene in another person can choose his pocket. C. Large crowds of people. D. People who have opened their drinks. They could be spiked. 4. Cultural experiences Culture shock ... A. Fee Table. All restaurants and bars will charge '(about 1000 L per person) to sit. This is the Italian version of a tip for the service. Therefore, are also not expected to tip. Bars are free to stand for itself. B. Body Odor Italy is a Mediterranean country, and thus becomes very hot during the summer. People tend to sweat a lot. The Italians are the use of sweating a lot and not realize it. Westerners tend to do and complain. This is rude. C. Italian time do not worry about how long the West. Their trains are improving, but do not expect everything to be just in time for you. D. Siesta. Italy is the Mediterranean. Therefore, it becomes very hot during the day. So hot places often close, not only in large cities, to take a rest. Moving 5.0. I listed the three main ways of getting around. 5.1 Train public transport in a relatively cheap and easy to get around. Trains are an ideal way to go from one city to another. All large cities are connected, along with most of the smaller you want to visit. Although once known for the delay, the Italian rail service is better. When I was there, I had only one train canceled and only one other (from the same town too), was late. The train also offers a panoramic view of the landscape. Euro-rail passes only saves money if you are traveling to or from another country. Italian railway also has its own pass that you will save money in Italy. Going from large cities to other large cities is necessary to book a place in advance or standing on the risk of a long journey. On busy days and you can even consider paying. 5.2 Bus Buses connect all major cities. Although slower than the train, which will have a panoramic view of the landscape. They are also somewhat 'cheaper than the train. Centro bus seemed to be quite good. If you buy a ticket at a kiosk and validate on the bus. E 'was about one dollar in every city for a journey 1st In Florence, you must take the bus to go around. 5.3 rental cars. Rental cars allow you to go wherever you want and anywhere. However, in congested tourist town, the cars may be more of a headache and a luxury. In addition, you share the road with drivers who do not have the same sense of self that you do. Hostels & Hotels 6.0 During the summer is a need to make hotel reservations at least two days in advance. This ensures that you have a place to stay in town and did not waste valuable time going from hotel to hotel. If you do not intend to reside in a place that you made a reservation, you should consider the label to call and let them know that you're canceling. Hotels range from four stars to Verity few holes in the wall. I suggest you take a guide, of which my guide section, and check their recommendations. A good one is Rick Steves Italy. Hostels have received a bad rap in both the United States and Italy. However, I found that even if they were not the Hilton, provided that all a safe, quiet, cheap to say. Most of the stores provided for the use or lockdowns had during the day when you are away. A draw back is that we do not accept reservations. E 'first come, first serve, but you extreamy good signs in advance. 7.0 Guide books Please refer to my selection guide Italy recommended in my books section
